New baseball complex in Sandusky, Ohio

American Legends Ballpark Breaks Ground

The developers of American Legends Ballpark broke ground last week on a multi-million-dollar project, aimed at bringing thousands of youth baseball teams and their families to the region each year.  Weekly youth team camps will be held in the summer with weekend mini-camps in the spring and fall.  The complex will feature dormitories, retail shops and meeting spaces. The first phase (nine fields, dorms, a mess hall, field offices and retail area) is expected to bring up to 600 youth, plus coaches, umpires and families each week in its first season. Phase one is planned for completion in April, 2010 - in time for the Kalahari Classic tournament scheduled for April 30.

If you have children ages 9-12 involved in this sport, talk to their coaches and start planning your trip to Lake Erie Shores & Islands now.  Besides the brand-new, first-class athletic facilities, the region offers a great combination of family entertainment options.
