Control your wait staff at Applebee's

We went to the Huntington Appleby's for lunch last Thursday and our waitress placed a small, black device on the table and inserted a white disk. "If you need anything, just press this button," she said.
We kind of laughed ("Hi, I need $100" instead of "Hi, could you refill my iced tea?" coming to mind), and she explained it was the first day for the devices there.

The restaurant not being busy, and our needs not too needy, we never did press the button, but a story about the new system showed up here:

GottaBeMobile - Applebee's Learns to Read Your Mind with ESP : Tablet PC & Mobile PC News & Video Reviews, and Tablet PC Forums: "A recent trip to an Applebee's Restaurant in Ft. Wayne, Indiana yielded a great 100% Angus burger and a new mobile technology experience."
