Ft. Wayne roots of the Detroit Pistons

GOLDEN BOYS: Pistons moved to Detroit and played first game here 50 years ago: "The Ft. Wayne years-- As a means to further employee relations and promote the Zollner Machine Works -- a company that eventually supplied 70% of the world's heavy-duty, aluminum alloy pistons for internal-combustion engines -- Fred Zollner sponsored a world champion fast-pitch softball team and a company basketball team in the Ft. Wayne YMCA Industrial League."

Found this story on the Detroit Free Press site. Nice props to Ft. Wayne for being the roots of the Pistons. If you click through, you'll see that Carl Bennett is interview, who is 91 and lives in Ft. Wayne.
