Journal Gazette | 10/20/2006 | Perfect arrangement
Nothing tops the excitement of the week before state finals for marching band students, staff and parents. Our family was blessed to experience four state championships while our kids were at Homestead--Angela was part of the first championship as an 8th-grade band helper, then won three championships during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Tony, a two-year band member, won his freshman and sophomore years. The two gentlemen mentions in this story were as important to HHS band then as now and deserve a lot of credit. But nobody deserves more credit than Mr. Barber and Mr. Wadkins, director and assistant director at HHS. For years after Angela graduated, I'd still hyperventilate a little just driving by the dome on Indy trips. I'm mostly over that now :)

You are sooooooooo right! We have sons in the Carroll band and participating for the first time in Class A was a thrill. We watched Homestead and thought they had won it again. These are experiences that our children will never forget and what a wonderful activity in which to spend their time. Hats off to the kids, the directors and all that goes with...
