I love the little poem "Apology to the Wasps" by Sara Littlecrow-Russell:
" Terrorized by your stings,

It's the day The Hobbit was published in 1937 by J.R.R. Tolkien; it's sci-fi author H.G. Wells birthday; and it's horror master Stephen King's birthday. He's 59, by the way; Tolkien and Wells being dead.
