Another Wednesday
Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction.-- E. F. Schumacher [Yes, surely there is some way to solve the world's problems other than bombing the hell out of each other, whether by bombs or airplanes falling from the sky.]

[M]aybe the most any of us can expect of ourselves isn't perfection but progress. -- Michelle Burford, O Magazine, 2003

Foggy this morning--weather channel promises some sun this afternoon but no hint of it yet. Warm, but it's also promised that winter will blow in tonight and tomorrow. The nature of autumn.

To the skating rink last night with A. and J. Memories of A.'s own childhood--skating parties at the 'dome, renting beat-up roller skates, the loud music, me trying to read. Can't skate worth a darn, of course. J. enjoyed it, and had improved a lot by the end of the session.
