Nobody died
Raining again today, gray and dark. Trees are past their peak, starting to fall, leaving trees ghosts of their summer selves. Chill in the air.
Cubs lost last night. Just what is a curse? I don't think it's anything supernatural. But we humans' brains are amazing things, and quite open to suggestion, good and bad. Can't help but think, it takes more than one year for a positive guy who doesn't believe to rid a place of suggestions past. They came pretty far. And though the cliche stick in one's mouth this morning, only next year can prove if they can go further.

Easy for her to say
Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinions of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth.-- Katherine Mansfield
